TELUS IDC – Calgary, Alberta

Fast track renovation of an existing data centre building to create a new TELUS internet data centre.  The building’s previous owner retained a portion of the existing datacentre under lease, which had to remain operational during the renovation and be switched over seamlessly at completion.  Critical systems for the new data centre included new chilled water plants, generators and UPS systems to maintain uninterrupted 24/7 operation of the facility. All critical equipment and piping systems are fully redundant.  Dry sprinkler systems with double interlock control were provided for protection of the data centre servers.  The design allowed for a total generator capacity of 10MW of generator capacity and as part of the design services Alberta Environment and Alberta Utility Commission approval was obtained.
